i need to make an anchor for my 14 ft. fishing boat, help!

Perform a depth sounding for the length of your safety line; then fill a milk bottle with pennies, seal it, securely attach the bottle to your line and throw it overboard. This works okay unless there is excess turbulence in the water.

You can buy one or take some coffee cans and fill them with concrete and make sure you have a sturdy metal rods so you can tie string to them when they dry.
