The area which Disney2K recommended is a good one. It's not in the center, so the rates are a bit cheaper but you can hop on the RER A and be in the city in 5 mins. I recommend the Hotel Central Courbevoie. Here's the site http://www.central-courbevoie-hotel.com/ but the online booking system doesn't work so use
http://hotelclub.net/DirectHotel.asp?Checkin=2006-8-6&Checkout=2006-8-8&ncl=&id=28820
or search from http://hotelclub.net (selecting La Defense West Paris as the location in Paris). It's family run and in a safe neighbourhood.

Not super high standard, but still cheap is the Kyriad Paris La Defense, only 51 euros a night and well located, good luck!

I am not sure what you mean by "high standard", but I stayed at La Familia hotel in the Latin Quarter. I was sick the first night in Paris and had asked the night desk clerk for some crackers. The next morning they called to check on me and offered to bring breakfast up to my room! I think that is pretty good service.

Try the chain hotels. Mercure have a good range in various locations and they have always been clean and decent quality. The Raddisson also do cheap deals from time to time.

Phone Air France they can offer discounts and all hotels have been checked out by them. I've never been disappointed with their recommendations.
