Yes , Egypt is victorious in the war of 1973
becuse it achieved all it's aim , Egypt forces crossed the big barrier in military history that include Suez canal and " Bar Lev Line" , second they could stick with the liberated land east of Suez canal and they siege the Isrealian forces that made the Counter-attack in west of Suez canal and if Isreal had the power to reach Cairo why they didn't enter Suez city that is about few kilometers from them or Ismalia city !!! they try to enter Suez but they got big fail ....
At last what about the result of that war that is withdrawal all Isrealian forces from Sinai , Is that all not a victorious to Egypt

I think (and hope) so. War is an ugly business. It is not fair that Hizbullah initiated that war and get other countries involved in it. If Hizbullah was not ready for the war they should not have initiated it!

Victorios? If my memory (and wikipedia) serves me right, Egypt lost more territory in the war of 1973.

"Prior to the war, fearing an Israeli crossing of the canal, no Western nation would supply the Israelis with bridging equipment. They were able to purchase and repair modular, pontoon bridging equipment from a French WWII scrap lot. The Israelis also constructed a rather sophisticated indigenous "roller bridge" but logistical delays involving heavy congestion on the roads leading to the crossing point delayed its arrival to the canal for several days. Deploying the pontoon bridge on the night of October 16/17, Avraham "Bren" Adan's division crossed and raced south, intent on cutting off the Egyptian third Army before it could retreat west back into Egypt. At the same time, it sent out raiding forces to destroy Egyptian SAM missile batteries east of the canal. By October 19 the Israelis managed to construct four separate bridges just north of the Great Bitter Lake under heavy Egyptian bombardment. By the end of the war the Israelis were well within Egypt, reaching a point 101 kilometers from its capital, Cairo."

Egypt is more friendly with Israel than with Syria and Iran. They will never attack Israel.

Edit: Hatem, The peace accord was signed in 1979, six years after the war. Also, if you check the casualties, you had 4 or 5 times as many casualties as we had, and you didn't gain any territory. Both Israel and Egypt were fortunate to have Saddat and Begin as their leader. All Sadat had to do is to recognize Israel and assure its security, and he got Sinai back. The peace process was in no way because Israel was suffering after the war 1973.
If only the Palestinians or Hezbollah recognize Israel and assure its security, Israel will give back the most of the West Bank as well.

Yes. First of all it is in Egypt's interest that Hezbollah get taken care of. Israel is doing this job for them.

Second - there is the MFO (Multinational Force and Observers) in the Sinai. if either Israel or Egypt tried to attack each other they would have to also attack troops from other nations (like the US, Italy etc.).

Egypt is not stupid and does not want to get involved in this anyway.

Egypt has condemned the attack on Isreal; so we can hope they will try to defuse rather than increase the war climate.

As you said, Egypt leaders have much wisdom and they know Israel well. Hence, they may keep neutral in the current conflict.
