The "they aren't true Christians" thing is an apologetics approach used by evangelists to convince non-believers that it's not Christianity which is causing any problems...I think this approach is meant to get people to come back to Christianity...I don't know. The basis for this is probably in the philosophy of Aquinas and his view of atonement through Christ and how the holy spirit should fill anyone who accepts the gift of salvation. I doubt most who say "they aren't true Christians" even know who Aquinas is.
So, depending on the individual, clever method of evangelism or idiotic rant....usually it's a rant out of frustration towards fellow followers.
I've heard the "not a real atheist" one before when some atheists hear of a person converting to theism. I think it's arrogant to pretend to know the status of another person's beliefs and shouldn't claim them a liar just because they change their minds. I think the reason "not a real atheist" comes up is because a lot of people associate free thought directly with atheism and assume that no one could come to the conclusion of god through free thought.

it a about a discerning inner spirtual heart issue ,its what u do ,how u speak ,in your home ,neighbourhood, work place community at church, all of those atributes ,are you applying what christ was teaching . just cause u go to church or read the bible or give generously does not mean you are a christain. if you know what Gods word says and dont live it thats called apostasy read the book of Jude. to be a true and mature christain is to keep in his word and be transformed .as christain we will always have those sins on thoughts or family issue or what ever ,just to confess and learn from them not to do them God know everthing and his Grace is everlasting. as achrisatain you cant be a fence sitterchristain you are either with or not God does not lie fence sitter chrisatain. God word is sufficient in all are needs and trails of life it all there. the only way u will undwerstand his word is ti make a decsion to follow him and desire to study his word and with out the holy spirt giving you understanding you wont understand .hope that helped.

Christianity is exclusionary by nature. It tries to divide the world into 'us and them'. Many Christians get so excited by this that they just keep on dividing and dividing again. It ought to be just 'believes in Jesus as Saviour' and no less.
Logically, atheism should be inclusionary - it should be 'doesn't believe in God or gods', but I've seen people say things like 'Buddhists aren't _true_ atheists', so I guess both sides are guilty.
I think that you should be able to identify yourself as whatever you want, and we should respect that by identifying you the same way.
There was someone here a while ago defining him/herself as a 'Christian atheist' or an 'atheist Christian', can't remember which. It didn't make much sense to me but hey, whatever floats your boat, right?

You can tell a false atheist right away.
They are the ones who say inane stuff like "well I was an atheist and now I believe, blah blah blah" because believe me, once you realize that god is a myth, you DON'T go back.
Once you walk through the door of reason and fact, you NEVER want to return to fantasy and myth (except while watching a movie that is).

I guess a false atheist would be one that secretly believes in god(s) and a false Christian is someone who doesn't really believe in Jesus (whatever they mean by 'believing in Jesus').
But then both of these things are things that can only really be known by that person alone, and no one else has a right to judge.

A true christian has a conscience. The others willfully sin believing all they have to do is ask for forgivness and get it. The true christian stays on the narrow path, while the others, that just say they believe, willfully enjoy the broad road to destruction.

A "actual" Christian is man or woman who can back up their ideals with evidence and has carried out their study. authentic Christians comprehend that they do no longer seem to be appropriate, by no potential would be appropriate, and that their journey is by no potential complete.additionally they comprehend that everyone's ideals are going to variety and that they do no longer pass judgment upon others. A fake Christian is one that is self righteous and does not settle for the actuality that everyone has a suitable to have faith what they suspect and doesnt settle for that no longer everyone is going to proportion the comparable ideals that they do.

To be true to your faith...or lack thereof...is difficult for anyone on the 'outside' to determine. I suspect that there are as many definitions of 'true Christians' as there are varitations of Christianity itself. Since athesism is not a religion or 'faith', it is much harder to define. However, it would be almost impossible to call someone a 'false' athesist, since they could not be described as such unless you 'caught' one of them exhibiting a belief in some form of a 'god'!

It depends how close you look. Scrutiny. Scrutinize them all, morning noon and night! I read once were ancient priests were not allowed to scutinize their own white robe. A friend had to scutinize them, dayly...
Or if you step back far enough to see them as a group, they look ok...and when they sing...you can tell who really feels it...true christians harmonize...so to speak...
