Don't beleive the propaganda we are subjected to.
This is how the current conflict came about:-
"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.
At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.
Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.
The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?
But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse."

why does mr dd up there who answered first continue to rag on and forget what realy is going on? Im asking you mr dd? the problem isnt the fact the free election didnt go as america planned its the fact that the party that one is a nown terrorist group and do we support terrorist groups? No hell no. How many salaries have we paid mr dd? How much food and medicine have we gave mr dd? And when a free election takes place and a terrorist group takes power are we to continue to supply those terrorist? Hell no we arent! After all its those same terrorist that continue to cause havick around the world! Lets think about this for a second mr dd..... We use to pay for everything for those people and they continue to create haveck. Isreal is bombing lebanon because as usual lebanon keeps taking these terrorist into there home allowing them an escape root everytime they escalade a problem and isreal is tired of it and only can put up with so much. It is time for another world war and with good reason because if somebody doesnt take controll of whats going on it could be devistating. Not to mention mr dd think about this and stick it up your a hole. Why do china and russia supply iran? It is known that area is unstable and it is also known that they arent very moral. Then when a crisis occurs what happens? Its taken to the un council and china and russia vote against.. Wtf is going on stop supplying them and this wouldnt be a problem i blame russia and china this would not be a problem if they would stop supplying them

Because Lebanon is supporting Hezbollah, who have kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. They are not willing to return the soldiers. To punish the guilty, Israel is bombing Lebanon.

The Hezbollah ("Party of Allah") is an anti-Semitic cult worth hundres of millions of $$ thanks to support from Iran and Syria.
The Hezbollah is the main power in Lebanon.
Lebanon is conducting a rocket war against northern and central Israel, which has killed many and wounded hundreds. And they are holding two Israeli soldiers hostage.
Lebanon has another 12,000 missiles pointed at Israeli towns right now
and they also finance attacks on Jews out of Gaza and Judea/Samaria.

Hezbollah, part of the ruling Lebanese ruling coalition (It actually has seats in the Lebanese Government) launched an unprovoked attack on an Israeli patrol within Israeli undisputed borders and killed and wounded several soldiers and kidnapped 3 into Lebanese soil. Hezbollah has then proposed negotiations for the release of prisoners in exchange for the 3 Israelis soldiers, among the prisoners held in Israel is Samir Kuntar who orchestrated and conducted a terrorist attack on the city of Maalot where an entire civilian family was murdered.
The presence of Hezbollah near Israeli border is in itself in defiance of UN security resolution 1559, which calls for the disarmament of militias in Lebanon.

They captured one of their soldiers, plus other things. They have been going at it for years. Back in the 60's I think, there was a 6 day war which Israel annexed the Golan Heights and then gave it back in the 90's!

Because the US will not stop them, and will keep anyone else from stopping them. so, as long as they have bigger, better, faster, and more weapons than the Arabs. They will do an low budget Botch(I mean Bush)Iraq invasion. Plus they want to show that no one messes with them. To intimidate any other Arabs in the region. Like the MOB would take out anyone who went up against them.
