If not, why not?

Get caught in a NYC traffic jam! Nobody GAF if you care or not! LOL In the early 70's I was driving into NYC & there was a well dressed young lady cursing up a storm about traffic, somebody told me she teaches, or taught, English at Columbia University, in her outfit it seemed very likely, so I'm sure she was better educated and has a better command of the English language than most on here! So cursing depends on who, what, where & why more than anything else!

I think Cussing and Profanity have gotten way out of hand in our society. People just use it in everyday language and in every other word, and I look at them like they are stupid. I just don't see the need in it, I don't think women should be called female dogs and so forth. Just like I hate to see a women who cusses and thinks it's cute or attractive. I can see someone cursing if they get cut off in traffic or you stub your toe or get your finger jammed in a door. But too use it constantly and continually is a bit too much. Yes, I believe in Freedom of speech but not freedom in vulgarity.

I really can't think of a place or time in which these are needed. Most people who "cuss like a sailor" are sadly lacking in language skills and use this tactic to cover their stupidity. Few words are more over-used than the "F" word...we really need a new queen mother of cuss words.

Only when around others that do the same. Away from little children, and elderly. Away from the church, resturants, and such places. Profanity is overused so much these days that it is not really even funny anymore. I roll my eyes when I hear it most of the time, as "clique"

There is no time and place because it smacks of low breeding, poor upbringing, and generally a lack of education and maturity. Polite society should not be exposed to people who lack the social and verbal skills to express themselve properly.

I suppose if you want to be seen as a worthless human being and only attractive to the equally worthless, then I suppose your time and place to bahave that way is anywhere you like. People like that don't care. What's scary is that you might breed.

i think so..I hardly ever swear..but like if I'm in a heated argument with my husband and I throw in the f word then he really knows I mean business. Unlike him that swears all the time..I never know when he's like really mad until he starts throwing crap around. He swears so much my 3 year old daughter has a swear word vocabulary..He's done it soooo long it's like he can't stop. Now I have the Job of telling my daughter that words are bad..and she say " but mama, why are words bad, what did they do" Yikes!

All of the language you mentioned come from the ignorant around us.
Jesus told us that man is degraded by what comes from his mouth.
Obscenities just prove a person's lack of self control, and those using it just drive others away.
So, No, don't cuss, swear, or carry on. It's ungodly.

I think if you have friends and you guys think it's OK then go for it. But if you have even 1 friend who's uncomfortable with it's OUT. Also if there are other people within hearing distance it's OUT. That's what good manners is all about.
I think however, you should be asking yourself why the need to talk like this is so important to you?

I don't think there is. I believe one can raise one's personal standards high enough that even when a painful event happens your prepared to handle it maturely. Besides, not cussing makes you appear smarter (great for on the job interactions).

if you are educated you should find a word to properly articulate your feeling and express yourself in a way that is without causing offense to others by using the curse words. you will find that saying what you mean with the English language will be a bit more gratifying as well.
