The word in your quote is pursuit not persude.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness means that you have the freedom to do all of those things in the US without the harrassment of the police or government.

Life...everyone has the right to live (even the unborn and old)
Liberty...you have the right to go where you wish (except private property) and do what you enjoy (legally)
Persuit of happiness...marry whom you chose, make a living doing what suits you, having a hobby you like.
It all means that we are FREE; the government should not rule our lives.
"The government should protect our nation, deliver the mail, and stay the hell out of our lives"

It's the freedom to pursue whatever you choose without the government telling you what job you'll have, what house you'll live in, or how many children you're allowed to have. The right to choose your own path in life - to pursue the possibility of your own personal happiness.

Pursuit of happiness
As part of the whole statement, it is pretty self explanitory.
You have the right to live
You have the right to live free, and you have the right to seek happiness.

It means our government doesn't own us. We have the right to be left alone. We have the freedom to make our own decisions about our lives. We're not subjects of the government. We're all individuals.
