I have spent some time reading about various religions and they all seem to say the same thing. Why do some religions feel thier religion is better than the other? We need to respect each others religions

Hi, this is for "crazy s" who answered my question. I am sorry I tried to send you a message through yahoo but couldn't figure out how to do so.

Yes, you are right. But I thought it was man who interpreted the bible and koran and do what they do. None of the religions specifically tell thier followers to kill in the name of religion. This is my understanding but do correct me if I am wrong.

Exactly, we need to respect others religions. You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. Thery all seem to teach the same things. Believe what you feel to be right for you. Don't let others decide your life!

If you were born a hindu, then be one and be proud to be one.

I would like to say something here that you may not agree but it is what I know.

All religions do not say the same thing. I think you have not read enough when you make a statement like that.

One more thing. Hinduism does not proselytise. It is not like the various religions who go around killing or using means to convert people to their religion. So this is one major point between hinduism and say for example islam and christianity who go out and use means of converting people to their religions.

So I would suggest read more. If you came to the conclusion that all teach the same thing, then you are very wrong.

Islam kills in the name of Allah. Where did you find that in hinduism? Let me know. I would like to have the information.

Christianity uses money and indirect stress to change people to their way of thinking. Where is that in hinduism?

You can click my name on the message board and send a message through yahoo. Thanks.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Two contradictory positions cannot both be right. If one can be pleasing to God without going through Christ, then He died for nothing, and Christianity is a lie. On the other hand, if one must go through Christ, then no other religion, no matter how good and sincere the followers may be, can be good enough.

It's not a matter of respect - it's a matter of obedience.

Judism, Christianity and Islam all coming from God. Islam is the last version and thus it is the most updated version that can be applied yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Also, Only Islam is the religion that respects other religions and God is the one who asked Muslims to do so.

Only God hated those Christians that generated Trinity and Jews who killed the prophets and deviated the original scripts.

It is not Islam..It is God

religion is progressive.each one comes with it's own set of social laws, depending on the time that that messanger came to earth, but all religions carry the same fundamental spiritual laws.
It is for man to study them and seek out the one that is for this age.and yes all people need to respect eachother andtheir respective religions, or WWIII is inevitable.
and it would be so sad to see that the reason for it it RELIGION , is'nt it ironical that religion is for unification of mankind, and man has made it the cause of enimity , haterd and discord.

because that's how organized religion works, baby. that's why we had the Crusades and countless other religous wars (which were all politically driven anyways) and it will never end. if you're buddhist or hindu just sit back and watch the fun. those religions are based more on personal self than belief in one god.

i am apparently episcopalian. i just found that out. i'm irish, so shouldn't i be catholic? woo

Islam, which means complete and peaceful submission to the Will of Allah (God) and obedience to His Law, is the perfect religion and the complete way of life for all mankind. One of the very significant Ayat (Qur'anic verses) that Allah finally revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), clearly states that Islam is perfect. Allah, the (only) God in heaven and on earth (43:84) and our Creator (2:21), says in the Glorious Qur'an:

"...This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion..." (5:3)
Islam provides us complete guidance for every aspect of our life. It solves all sorts of problems facing humanity now and in the future, be it physical, material or economic, socio-cultural, political, legal, religious and spiritual, and the like. Everything it enjoins us to do is for our own benefit. An example of this is the performance of Salat (Islamic prayers) particularly the five compulsory daily prayers. Allah commands us to perform Salat (2:110; 4:103; 20:14) for our own benefits and not because He needs it as He is free of any need. He does not depend on anyone. Allah alone possesses all power. He is the All-Knowing, the Powerful (42:50), the Almighty, the Wise (59:24). When He desires a thing He only says 'Be' and it is (36:82). In other words, nothing is impossible to Him. He is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds (1:2). All creatures depend on Him (11:6). To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (42:49). He enlarges and restricts provisions to whom He wills (49:12). True prayer is due to Him Alone (13:14). We have to worship Allah Alone (6:102, 103; 11:1-2) because He commands us to worship Him. Allah says:

"That is Allah your Rabb! There is no God but He, the Creator of all things; then you worship Him: and He has power to dispose of all affairs. No vision can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision; He is Subtle, Well-Aware." (6:102-103)

The performance of Salat serves as the foundation of Islam. Without it there is no Islam. It is the concrete proof of our submission to Allah. It fulfills our very purpose of creation. Allah makes it very clear in the Glorious Qur'an that the very purpose why He has created us is to worship Him throughout our lives. He tells us:

"I have created not the jinn and men except that they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them nor do I ask that they should feed Me. Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, Most Strong." (51:56-58)

"So glorify the praises of your Rabb and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). And worship your Rabb until there comes unto you the Hour that is certain (i.e., death)." (15:98-99)
The performance of Salat (prayer) was "the first act of worship" that Allah made obligatory for all believers (in Allah and His Messenger (pbuh)). Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) received the revelation to perform Salat during his ascension to heaven.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Now by reading the above material you should understand that how important salat ( prayer ) is for humans as it is one of the command from ALMIGHTY ALLAH. Now when the ALMIGHTY has asked us to pray 5 times in a day how can we ignore the creators words, its hopelessly unmeaningful and selfishness on our part. When ALMIGHTY ALLAH has created us with so much care and has bestowed upon us so many milliions of gifts by which we can enjoy life on this earth, should nt we play our part of obeying HIM and what is he asking 5 times prayer.

2) Jesus also is one of the messenger of ALMIGHTY ALLAH like Mohammed (PBUH)

3) All humans are born muslims, its their society who changes them to different religions, but it is also every individual's duty to gain knowledge of the right religion that is ISLAM and follow it before its too late .

4 ) you may ask why Islam not any other religion this is because ISLAM is the last religion and ALMIGHTY ALLAH has choosen this religion for us and we should respect and obey it.

5 ) yes you will be punished if you dont pray and this is the first accountability that we will have to account for after the death , that is the salat ( prayer )

6) another point i would like to remind you of in Islam is that ALMIGHTY ALLAH is so merciful that when a non muslim converts into muslim, he/she is forgiven all his sins, he will become so pure that as if he is newly born, whatever the sins are and this is something remarkable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want proof of the suffering for not praying i can send an email attachment of a true incident which has happened not to a non muslim but to a muslim youth because he would not pray and he was spoilt. You can mention your email address under your question if you are interested.

becos every religion thinks that it is the "truth". therefore, anything other than the "truth" must be lies and should be destroyed. That's just the way it works.
