Has anyone tried it? My husband said that he tried it once. Is it hard to prepare? I don't have any on hand, and don't plan on it either, but was just wondering what it taste like.

Shark is delicious, but it's one of those fish that there is no middle of the road - people either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. It's mild and can be made 1,000 different ways ranging from simple lemon/butter to cajun spiced to kabobs with your own special marinade. I have only found shark to be rubbery as noted above when it was undercooked. When broiled, baked, sauteed or grilled properly, it is dynamite. It's almost got a very tender meat-like texture to it, like a nicely done filet mignon. It's hard to say what it tastes like truly, because it really picks up whatever you season and spice it with. Give it shot - pick up 2 shark steaks and grill them up with mild spices to start. See how you like it! Enjoy.

Shark Kabobs

1 lb black tip shark (or tuna steak, swordfish, mako, marlin)
2 lg carrots, unpeeled
pineapple slices, halved
1/2 c. orange juice
1/4 c. melted butter or margarine
3 tbsp soy sauce

Cut carrots into 1/2 in chunks, and blanch until barely tender.

Alternate fish, carrots, and pineapple on skewers til you have 4
chunks of fish on each one. Again, how much of the other stuff
depends on you. You should have 2-3 skewers full per person.

For marinade, mix the juice, butter and soy together.

Suspend skewers over a 13x9 pan lined with foil and spoon marinade
over kabobs. Broil for 4 minutes, then turn and broil for another
4-5 minutes, spooning marinade over them periodically.

Serve over hot cooked rice

Awww..give it a try..be adventurous. If you like fish, you'll probably like shark.

It does not taste that good that is why people do not eat sharks. What I heard on a TV show is that it tastes just like regular fish or something.

I tried shark meat a long time ago, but I didn't enjoy the texture or taste. Shark meat is very high in metal mercury and other contaminates and is not safe to eat. Mercury bioaccumulates over time and can cause neurological disorders, fertility problems, and even death.

Shark is delicious! It's a very meaty fish, easy to prepare. You can grill it, broil it, or fry it. Unlike meat, fish only needs to be cooked a few minutes on each side unless it is extremely thick.

Shark is a very mild tasting fish. I marinade it with lime juice then grill. Delish!

shark doesn't taste like much in particular - the texture is a little rubbery and it's tougher than fish like salmon... mahi mahi might be a good alternative bc it can hold up to grilling and stuff, but has taste and is really good!

Imagine if you could take 3 parts tuna, 1 part steak, magicly combine them and have it be all one piece of flesh, evenly mixed.

It tastes like fish, but a little milder than most, and does not break apart as easily on the fork.
