I can purposely attempt to sin..... and somehow, it's always stopped by wierd, "beyond my control" events which prevents me from pursuing the sinful act. Why?????

That's the Holy Spirit working in your life. God does not want you to stray, but He is also a gentleman. If you really, really want to stray He will eventually allow it. When that happens things will start to get bad. At any rate, it is easy enough to sin with out trying to sin.

if you are truly a christian, you are bought with a price and are no longer your own.

1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
1Co 6:20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1Co 7:22 For he who was called in the Lord as a slave is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a slave of Christ.
1Co 7:23 You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.

You are on the path. This is good. your Spirit knows the path you walk upon and your attempt to sin could be seen as your hair blowing in the wind.

God Loves You And Is Trying To Bring you back to him. here's how my dad explained it. There is a fence. On one side is the world and on the other is god. you have to choose and you cant walk on the fence. every once in a while you may feel tempted and go to the side of the world. But God will draw you back.

Tell us at least one sin that you tried and you were stopped! Or maybe you are just afraid to do it. It is not about the GOD. GOD does not stop you from sinning. He only judges!

Guilt or as we atheists like to call it conscience.
Why do you equate walking away from God with sinful acts? ... can't you just walk away from God and carry on as usual, sounds most peculiar to me.

You cannot walk away from God. Once you have known Him and then you try to walk away, you always end up finding yourself walking right back towards Him.

I think you should thank your parents for giving you an understanding of right and wrong. As EarthAngel says, it's what we call a conscience - it's a wonderful thing that helps us all navigate through life.
