there is a way to play older games in win xp. install the game, right click on the .exe icon(on your desktop) and go to properties. there will be a tab called "compatibility". Click on that and check the box "compatibility mode" select windows 95 and "apply" then "ok"

Why do you want to install Windows 95? It is no longer supported by Microsoft. If you still want to install it, restart your computer and then press Esc. or F10. You should now see the Bios settings page. Make sure that the first boot device is CD-ROM. If it isn't change it to CD-ROM. Then save and exit. You will see the options there.

Now, insert your Windows 95 CD and restart your computer. Wait for sometime and you will see a message "press any key to boot from CD". So press any key. Then just follow the instructions to remove Win XP and install Win 95. Or you can install Win 95 in another drive and keep your Win XP.

And you will need a bootable Win 95 CD. The above wont work if the CD is not bootable.

Oh, didn't see that. Just update your Windows XP with all the latest patches and then all games should work.

Rather than replace XP with 95, you might consider a dual boot. You can find information and how to instructions at the MS site --
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/multiboot.mspx
This link provides 4 pages of information and instructions. There are links to other pages on the right hand side of this page where you may find more helpful information.
Another guide can be found here --
http://www.techweb.com/winmag/windows/guides/dualboot/default.htm
You may want to search for other guides. In Yahoo search type ' Multi-Booting> Windows XP and Windows 95'.
It is very important that you back up all of your files and defragment your hard disk before you do any partitioning to prepare for dual booting. There are entries on how to do this in the XP help menu.

Or if dual booting is not the way you want to go, here is an alternative solution --
You can set up a w95 program to run in XP. The choice to do so should come up automaticly during installation. If it doesn't, just left click on its icon and choose "Preferences" from the menu that opens. From there you can set it to run as under w95.

If you are determined to run win95, inserting the installation media and rebooting your computer will start the installation process. If you do this without first creating a partition for the 95 installation, Xp and all of your files and folders will be destroyed during the installation process.

I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

There are settings in XP to allow an application to run like it was under Win95.

Installing Win95 is not a good idea. Spend some time on google and investigating XP options for executing an application.

I imagine you'll be able to get it to work easier than installing Win95 (which, by the way, will require you to format your hard drive).

You could try to install the game on XP with wizard program compatibility (the name could be a bit different, I use a Dutch XP). I don't know exactly how it works, but I've used it once or twice and it worked fine for me :)
