Yes I believe in God. I believe He created us in HIS image. I believe He sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins that we might have eternal life with Him in Heaven. I believe He gave us the freedom of choice to choose between good and evil. I believe that He answers all prayers when prayed from the heart and not try to bargain with Him. I believe He will come again and take all His children to live with Him forever in blessed peace.

i find it weak (in a sense) that people place so much faith in god - it's almost like running away from problems by saying "god will fix it". it frightens and annoys me that people will shirk science that has good solid physical evidence in favour of faith - particularly the statistic that some 50-60% of americans believe the world was created in 6 days and is 6000 years old.

also, i'd like to think that i'm not just the result of some omniscient, omnipotent and *assumedly* benevolent (how do we *know* he's good? we don't) being wanting to be worshipped.

but possibly the biggest thing setting me against religion is the circular reasoning. if faced with a question about god they can't answer, most theists (particularly, i notice, those on y! answers) will resort to either quoting the bible or dismissing other ideas "because god said something different". i would totally accept someone admitting that they don't know the whole picture (and doesn't the bible say that this is meant to be the case anyway?). but these people seem to prefer to try to look big rather than admit they aren't prefect.

HOWEVER....

i'm not a hypocrite. understand fully that there may be a god. i may be wrong - just the fact that we don't have evidence *now* doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. which is why i try to keep an open mind at all times. the part that keeps me favouring the "non-god" side of the fence over the "god" side is what i've described above

p.s. note that i didn't mention evolution when i ranted about science. again, i realise wholly that science could be wrong. and given the tempers that it can flare, i thought it best that it not be mentioned as a point

I believe in God because of the Universe. Nobody is able to understand how big the universe is. Nobody is able to understand how a man who is sitting next to me in flesh and blood with everything in tact just a few minutes ago, suddenly declared dead. Can you explain death. What happens when some body is dead ? Technically the heart stops beating but what made it to tick in the first place and why did it stop all of a sudden. Most of the people who do not believe in God are simple people who have not understood how the world function.
All man made things can be made to dust within minutes by a big earth quake. Why cannot you stop this ? Why cannot you stop Katrina ? Let them ponder and they will get the answer.

i believe in karma. if you do good things it will be returned to you. i think that if you truly deserve something you will be given what you seek and that it is a product of how you treat others not necessarily "God." I however hate the institution that is the "Church." This stems off of actions by the Catholic church my family was a part of for years turning their back on my parents after my father worked very hard to improve the building and they found themselves having marital issues. Religion and God was created by humans - it has flaws.

Yes, I believe in God. It is because He has revealed himself to me through His Word during the days of my life.

Yes i do..and its very personal and precious to me. I can feel his very presence among us. He is the one who shows us what is good and bad.
And i can feel Him always guiding mi actions...i get indications of my wrongdoings and have always been pointed out by HIM. Yet, i feel sometimes there is no God..its all one's own perceptions because on lets one's circumstances have the better when faced with a challenging situation. I know for sure if I have to be a Victor, i have to pray to God and it helps always. So it is a very personal perception with varying from person to person and based on different challenging situations.

Me?
I don't.
Why?
-Because the idea is just somehow unconvincing for me...more a feeling than deep atheism...
Maybe I'm wrong and there is a God/Gods...But so what? - I and only I am the one who may judge me...
Religion?
-Doesn't work for me...But if it works for you...well...fine... whatever makes you happier/works best for you...

-Honestly, religion just isn't part of my life and I'm happy anyway...

-As long as you don't try to sell me your God, or your salvation everything is fine...-There is no offense intended... I just don't want to bother myself with these things...

Edit: It's strange somehow...the reason why wally believes is quite similar to the reason why I don't...
