They are effectively two names for the same thing. A missile is generally considered a rocket, while a rocket might not always be a missile.
missile: a rocket carrying a warhead of conventional or nuclear explosives; may be ballistic or directed by remote control
rocket: any vehicle self-propelled by a rocket engine

"A missile is a projectile propelled as a weapon at a target. Missiles are propelled via rocket fuel.
A rocket is a vehicle, missile, or aircraft that creates thrust by expelling burned fuel (as exhaust) at a high rate.
The traditional definition of a rocket is a vehicle, missile or aircraft which obtains thrust by the reaction to the ejection of fast moving fluid from within a rocket engine. Often the term is also used to refer to a rocket engine."

Watching too much of the Israeli and Lebanese conflict huh?? lol .
Basically a rocket is not guided. It goes straight and hits the target. But a missile on the other hand has a longer range and is guided. It can change direction go up don etc and hits a specific target far away as far as 20,000kms away.

All rockets are missiles, but not all missiles are rockets. Technically, a bullet is a missile, or a rock shot from a slingshot is technically a missile, but neither of them are rockets.
