About 3-7 days, usually when it start to itch. The best thing to do is not to strain and sit for too long the next time you go to the toilet (10 minutes tops without straining).

The hemorrhoids can last overall longer than a few days. It is important to let a doctor look at them because problems can occur with blood clots in them and stuff like that. Preparation H is good over the counter, but there are prescription varieties that are stronger and will work better for you if that is what you need. Anusol HC is one of them. It has a steroid in to shrink swelling and Preparation H doesn't have that.

I have been plagued with them for years. I currently use a prescription medication when they flare up but have also used Vicks mentholatum (as odd as that sounds) with success.
One of the best things I found is that when I use the bathroom, I immediately shower afterwards. Of course this is usually based on timing as a normal routine in the morning.
Wash back there good during the shower and if they continue, you can "massage" them back in (or down in size) during the shower.
Strange but true.

Hemorrhoids are associated with constipation and straining at bowel movements. How to get rid of hemorrhoids https://tr.im/KofqN
Pregnancy is also associated with hemorrhoids. These conditions lead to increased pressure within the hemorrhoidal veins that causes them to swell. Other conditions, for example chronic liver disease, may also cause increased venous pressure and may be associated with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are very common and are estimated to occur in up to one-half of the population by age 50.

prep-H will relieve the itchiness, and shrink the tissues.
there are external and internal hemorrhoids, if they give you a lot of discomfort, you should see a Dr.
You don't want to strain much while having a bowel movement, and you don't want to lift anything heavy, because they do bleed. and you don't want to rupture one, because they are veins, other than that a lot of times they will go away quietly.

About 3 to 5 days. Get more fiber in your diet. Perhaps also, get less stress in your life. Prep-H also actually works. Smells horrible though.
Good luck!
