She's got to show interest. For her to intiate a conversation shows interest.
I have one now that shows no interest in even talking with me in front of people, but if she catches me alone, she'll talk up a storm. It sends mixed messages and when I've finally begun to give up, she's begin to hint she would like to go out. So there's a fine line between chasing, and giving up to the chase because there's no sign of interest.

Yes, end the chase and let him catch you or even run back to him.

It sounds like you don't want to be chased. Therefore just call him up and tell him how you feel!
