If he's always been colorblind, it's genetic. No successful gene therapy yet. Colorblindness isn't a hot area of research either. Most of us in the gene therapy fields of research are studying implications in treatment of things like muscular dystrophy, cancer, etc.

Well there is a procedure but it's probability for success is much less....
The procedure is to see the rising sun with naked eyes by standing on the ground.I mean to say ground with soil on its surface.This procedure takes about a 2 years of time and thus makes our eyes somewhat clear.This procedure is called SUNGRAZING.You can watch the sunrise or the sunsetcontinously about 44 minutes,Watching more than it may lose your eyes.Increase your staring time daily and watch the magic.

No procedures to "correct" it. He's stuck with the problem. But are you sure he can't be colorblind? I doubt that will wash him out from flying.
