The key to any relationship is the four letter word for intercourse: TALK. Here is a very valid time for you and your best friend to talk about things. Was it good? Would you like it to continue? How does the other person feel? Do you still want to be best friends?

Reaffirm your values with this person. They are probably wondering the same thiings inside, too. Right now you got to make sure that your friend knows that you love them. And if the sex thing gets in the way, you could lose your best friend. The way not to let it get in the way is to talk honestly, openly and deeply about how you feel. Most of all, how you feel about them.

One other thing, own your own feelings here. None of this "you made me feel..." Remember, you choose your own emotions. Speak your own truths and listen intently to theirs. Repeat back what you think you hear them saying and ask if you got it right.

You may find yourselves going back to trying sex at least once more just to see if your first impressions were right, BTW. Been there.

Best of luck. Lovers come and go, but best friends are hard to find and should be for life.
