I bought a rockford fosgate 500bd mono amp from ebay. i opened it up when i got it to make sure nothing was wrong with it and while i was looking it over i saw on the circuit board "rockford fosgate 1500bd". I was wondering why it would say that if its a 500bd.

Because it is a mono amp. If it was a 2 channel amp it would say 2500. If it was a 4 channel amp 4500 etc... this is very common with all amps. Hope I have been helpful

The 500bd is a 250 watt mono amp and the 1500bd is a 750 watt mono amp. both on the bottom of the amp and on the right side top of the amp, in line with the strip running between the cooling fins it will say either 500bd or 1500bd. Just ignore the circuit board.

That's like a reference for Fosgate when they are assembling the amp: Mono(1) 500(wattage) i.e. 1500.
