If someone buys into your line of reasoning, essentially people would never be able to express their disaproval of governmental decisions without being branded as a traitor.
People can support the troops for making the effort to protect your country without believing that this particular war is a way in which the troops are the best way spent. As far as I am aware, once enlisted, soldiers do not have the choice to say "um, yeah, I don't like the Iraq war, so I wont fight there, but if you have some argument with someone in Cancun, count me in"
The soldier made the decision to protect your country, people can support that while they disagree with how the government has decided to deploy them.

I agree with you whole heartedly. Anybody that doesn't support our troops completely in the job that our president has asked them to do is not an American and should get the hell out. I think there are a lot out there like us that are just too afraid to speak their minds. President Bush went into this and committed our troops to this cause because there just wasn't any other way. Hussein had to be taken out of power, and bin laden and his followers must be stopped. That's all there is to it. Who else is going to stop this madness? The French? I don't think so. But that is the bottom line. I love this country and the rights that all the fallen soldiers have given to me and I will support my President as long as he keeps doing what is right and just for my country. I am a firefighter and lost 343 brothers and sisters that day and I say if there is an enemy of my president, he is an enemy of mine. Get 'em all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not disrespectful, im sure half the soldiers dont want to be their. The worst think a true citizen can do is blindly follow a war simply because its our lads fighting it. Im against the iraq war, ive always been, and i live just south from the Staffordshire Regiment *im in the UK*. I dont feel disrespectful, i care for our troops, so i want them home
To the below post, I think Saddam should have been deposed long ago but yet again, American policy wouldnt do it. They didnt stop him in the Gulf War, they armed him in the Iran-Iraw war and then when the Kurds rose up, the Americans left thm to die.
Then, we're told he can hit us with chemical weapons in 15mins. That was a lie. If it wasnt a war for oil, i would support it.
Unfortunatly, the war is nothing but a ruse to gain secure Western Interests. How else can you explain the coalition not rebuilding infrastructure, but pumpingm oney into pipeline construction?

Though I'm a supporter of President Bush and his decision to go into Iraq, I think it's possible for those who are against his choice to still support our military. Most people that are against this war aren't anti-military, they know that the troops don't have a choice when they are called to do something like this, so their problem isn't with the military, it's with the President for making them go over there. I think a lot of these people believe that there are times that war is necessary, but this just isn't one of those times. You and I believe that when one of our troops in Iraq are killed, they die for a cause, but those that are against the war feel like these men and women are dying for no reason, therefore it actually might be worse for them when a troop dies because they feel they shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place.
The people that are military haters and are protesting at these soldiers funerals can't be compared to the people that are just against the war. Those people have no respect for the troops, and they are heartless and crule.
My parent's are both very against what is going on in Iraq, but I know if my husband was over there, ( He's Military ) they would
completely support him. I have a sister that makes it no secret how she feels about the people running our country, but she has never said anything negative about the military, and she would be the first to go off on someone that did.
Most Americans are thankful for the service our Military does. And I think that the majority of us, regardless of what our feeling's are on the war, are sad to see any Service Member die. And rather they come home injured, dead or alive, as a nation, we need to welcome them with open arms.

Exactly. People should at least be honest and stop claiming to support the troops when their 'support' is nothing but a demand that the troops do what they tell us to.
I spent a year in Iraq and I am disgusted by the 'support the troops but oppose the war' hypocrisy.
Somebody cannot be supporting me if they are working to wreck everything I have done!
Besides - we get to see the true colors of these hypocrites when they demonstrate that they believe every bit of enemy propaganda and refuse to even listen to our side of the story.

Well said, God Bless America.
Some of the people are from other countries, and some are just trying to drum up democratic political support as well.
I want to know why we don't have gas for 10 cents a gallon, since they say we just went there for oil.
Those same people are outraged because a soldier looks at a foreign detainee wrong, but their o.k. with the torture and barbaric slayings of American soldiers, coalition forces, and civilians, no loyalty at all.

So to ask a question in return
Is it right to kill a child?
is it right to kill a Baby?
Is it right to destroy education/religious establishments
We as american violated the Geneva conventions by invading Iraq. While I support the Troops, I don't support the war, nor do I support the Leadership that sent them their.
After the Leadership is gone, the troops will remain, and the troops will again regain their honor

Look I respect the job you do, I respect the country, and I respect that soldiers are dying daily. But if you want me to say I respect a blatant misuse of the military I cant do that and you cant make me. The invasion of iraq was misguided and heavy handed. Im sorry you disagree with that, but there are more than a few generals that would agree with me.

As I sit here reading your question, I am literaly within 24 hours of going to Iraq, after deploying to Kuwait 8 months ago to perform our mission of Theater Reserve. while I agree with most of your points, I want to let you know that I think most soldiers would agree, we aren't doing this for the opinion of the average American. We are doing this because we serve a larger cause, that of the security of our nation and our way of life- regardless of how the average citizen thinks. The oximoron of all this, is I am serving my country, and even prepared to give my life, so people in the US can say what they want. So it doesn't really bother me to hear these things. Those that support us, are truly appreciated and have our heartfelt thanks. Those who don't, are blessed with that freedom because of what we do- and we are OK with the fact they might have an opinion different then ours. That they fail to recognize this, is OK too, and a fact of life. I relish the fact that the service I give, allows the freedoms we have as an entire nation, regardless of opinion.
And thanks for your support!

It somewhat does not look that there is a well-known hatred in direction of squaddies as replace into seen interior the Vietnam era. individually i do no longer think of squaddies are undesirable human beings, a soldier does not be sure who he kills. He only does what he's advised. thinking authority mutually as interior the provider isn't this style of sturdy concept, coming from very own journey. there is genuinely no rationalization for a man or woman to disrespect a soldier only because of the fact the conflict could be questionable. A soldier is completely a man or woman that has desperate to sacrifice themselves for the provider of their united states of america. ultimately, it could in all possibility be a foul concept to spit on somebody it is knowledgeable and is a veteran of killing human beings in wrestle -- it could desire to be undesirable on your well being.
