I heard that it was hebrew and not french. Note : the french did alot of culture theft from other cultures and added to their own as if..

Sion does come from the Hebrew word Zion and could refer to either a mountain with a temple on it or a temple in the form of a mountain.

4. the Christian Church. Also, Sion.
