My concern is that I've acquired HIV from a single exposure. I met a guy online; we met up, kissed, and I let him perform oral on me. After I came, he masturbated and came on my chest. I used a wet towel to wipe his semen from my chest but, like a fool, I used the same wet towel to wipe excess semen from my penis. What risk is associated with the event that I describe? I've been having cold chills, a slight fever of 99.6 for a few days, as well as nasal congestion. The incident took place on June 7. I also developed a sore throat the day after this.

You never stated whether your partner was HIV + but I do not believe symptoms would occur so soon. Semen can survive a good couple of hours up to a day in the air. I would also suggest you get a test at least you would pick it up early and could take the anti retro virals and prevent the case of it going into full blown AIDS.

How can you look at another man's hairy a*s and say "mmm, I've gotta get me a piece of that"? I will never understand that.
If you don't have HIV now, you will probably contract it soon from some other oversexed random gay guy, so you might just wanna keep a open tab at your local free clinic.

Oh an no, HIV does not die once in contact with open air. It can live for quite a while in semen that is outside of the body.

It's probably just coincidence that you're feeling this way. It's not likely that the semen on the towel entered through your urethra and into your system, as your urethra is so small. But, if your symptoms don't go away or you just want to be sure, I would get tested to prevent getting any sicker. If all he did was go on your chest, you should be fine.

I don't think you can contact HIV from anything other than the oral sex. In this situation the only risk you took was the oral sex, without protection. As far as the towel goes, I believe once HIV makes contact with air it's killed automatically. Are you a male? I'm confused, screenname says..diva.. :: shrugs::

I can't believe that with all the information that has come out on AIDS and HIV since the early 1980's, that you do not know how you can contact that disease! Where have you been hiding? Get with the program!

I'm not sure about the risk from what you described but I would definitely go in and get tested as soon as possible.
