Always had mild hayfever, but this year it has very suddenly become severe - enough to prompt visits to emergency doctors through difficulty breathing and infected bites as well as the extreme runny/blocked nose and eyes that I am ready to scratch out. I don't understand why this has happened to me.

my hayfever started suddenly when I was 10-11 or something, and it was very bad to the point my eyes were swollen and I could hardly see, now almost 20 years later the eye problems are gone but I still suffer from some intense sneezing at several times a day. Though now it's limited to 6-7 weeks a year instead of 3 months which it used to be.

The improvement started when I stopped taking those socalled medicines. I take no medicine whatsoever now but all I do now is make sure I get plenty of rest (ie minimum 8 hours of sleep) and I do believe it helps. And eating well also. Plenty of fruit and veggies but make sure to avoid bananas and the like.

Rest and good healthy food.

You have my sympathy. I started suffering from allergies while pregnant with my son six years ago. From nowhere, I developed quite severe allergic rhinitis, which is year long and highly irritating to say the least. I have sneezing fits on a regular basis, watery eyes constantly, and in the summer months, the pollen makes it twice as bad. I have no answer, but lots of sympathy.

well im 42 and until last year i never suffered at all...ever, this year has been bad for me too, but i also know that a lot of farmers in the UK have switched from animals to agriculture, maybe this has something to do with it, a lot more crops being harvested which means more pollen and dust.
I find Piriton tablets work in around 10 minutes.
