It is normally referred to as "Nose Art" and doesn't neccessarily have to be girls, as they were considered good luck charms for the crews. They often featured all sorts of things such as maps, flags, cartoons, etc, but indeed were mostly of gorgeous or mean looking girls!
I worlk in a WWII aviation museum, at Duxford in the UK, it was a former fighter base for both the RAF and then the USAAF.
We have the famous B-17 Sally B, which has Sally on one side, and the Memphis Belle art on the other.....
To the above poster who said it has to be politically correct, I must disagree, many were even virtually pornographic! We sell books about it and one features the best and most famous ones, including a bomber called "Welcome to death Valley" which featured a gorgeous woman with her legs spread open in an inviting pose, and her vagina featuring bared razor sharp teeth! There is a famous story of the Queen (late Queen mother) visiting a US base and many of the more lewd ones had to be covered in black plastic! Enquiring why they were covered, the Queen was told they were top secret!

It was called Nose-Art. The Air Force allows it on a very limited basis. Obviously whatever the picture, it has to be Politically Correct. Gone are the days of scantily clad babes in seductive poses.
Google Nose art. I had several links pop up for pictures

Back in the good ol' days the boys over seas put the names of their sweethearts or someone they admired from the movies on the side of their planes as " good luck" charm... Also a lot of the pilots would name their planes just like a lot of the folks these days name their cars ... How many times have you tryed to crank your car in the mornin' and said " Come on ( enter your car name here) Crank for me one more time!"

Do a google search for "nose art". The pictures were usaully adapted from "pin-up" art, search for either of those things, and you will probably find what you are looking for, unless you know the nickname of a specific aircraft.

One of the most popular pinups was Betty Grable, a Hollywood actress and singer.
That's whom you're probably thinking of...
