Every relationship between a cat and her owner is special. Cats behave in different ways, have different needs, and express distinct likes and dislikes.
Your cat stopped meowing because he needs a companion,you are not giving him the same love like before.He needs love and attention that only a partner can give to him.

my cat did that about a month ago we thought he had the cold . 1 day he started coughing it looked lyk he was tyring to throw up . it was a hair ball . i think that's wat is happening to ur cat
