human wast has been used for a long time
1000 years ago Central American Natives for their chinampas mixed the days load from the public toilets on the bridges going in to what is now Mexico city.
as compóst together with the mud from the lake .

in China .probably for just as long they have used raw human excrement on the fields ,this is called night soil
and the country side smells like a toilet

these are not the best ways to use human waste, neither is the raw sewage that is used around Mexico city today directly on the vegetable fields ,many deseases result.,

How ever if human waste is properly composted it is completely safe and has no bad smell or even resemble its former condition.

in Thailand in areas of poor soil ,people have a beautifull painted toilet ,with herbs and flowers .along side the road ,to invite travellers to use these.
they cver the poop with some leaves .allow to it to decompose ,and this beautifull black soil is used in their agriculture

in Portugal ,even today in rural areas ,the toilet is a hut build on the top of a stairs ,with the pig trough underneath on the recieving end .
on a similar note
in Mexico a rural toilet is called a corral ,and consists of a square fenced with bamboo or reeds nothing else

the customer does his business ,some where on the ground ,very simple ,and becomes aware of being watched by an interested eye ,this is not some pervert ,but the pig patiently waiting .until it is his turn to have dinner.

Human waste has been used for many centuries ,probably as long as there has been agriculture
in many ways ,
Modern society has forgotten most of these

salt in the soil comes from deforrestation ,the impact of rain on naked soil .

as well as the use of heavy machinery and the feet of many cattle for a long time.which all compact the soils which allows the salt to rise.

normal soil management ,with mulch and organic supplements combats this ,as well as the use of deep rooted nitrogen producing plants and trees that will break up the soil again,

You are mistaken about this because it is already being done as we speak.
It's called government and at the top of the heap is Bush and there's no way of stopping the terrible odor coming from it either
Many have complained about all the crap falling from the top of the heap but no one will do anything to remove the smelliest of them all. It's all talk and no action, just push it aside and hope it will fall down the pile of sh*t and never do any more dirty work again.
I'm for flushing all the sh*t down the toilets and hope others will follow soon.
The odor has become very dangerous to everyone and just might end up killing many in this country as well as abroad too.
No matter of salt will help this pile of sh*t and it has already become the worlds worst problem to date.
We need help in cleaning up this monstrous pile of sh*t now!
As for using it for fertilizer I don't think I would want to spread it around any more then it already is, smells way to bad for anyone to have to live with so why would anyone want to use it as fertilizer as it is all human waste already.

The problem is one of economics and sanitation and health rather than science. Human waste was being used to fertilize Vietnamese rice fields as recently as the vietnam war. This can lead to terrible diseases such as cholera, however.

Using a bio-gas containment system for human and other waste, however, would extract both natural gas AND fertilizer. The technology remains expensive, difficult, and somewhat stinky though.

The PH is far to high for any plant to live with. Even in small amounts it is rather toxic to plant life. furthermore it has no nutritional value to plantlife.

I worked at a plant nursery a few years. This is an educated guess based on other forms of poo.

Hails to a dirty mind :P,

i think that you are not well known about the drainage systems of your house. while the water from houses are getting purified the sludge gets settled down in one of the purification tanks and is used in fields. the hman waste is rich in nitrogen which helps the cros to grow faster and better.

It carries too many desises ... that's why.
The REAL Q is: "Why isn't human Sh*t turned into energy?" As is why don't we get energy from the heat it produces and what not and use it like that...

it is, there are some green companies that manufacture special toilets and filtering systems that do exactly this- although I don't know the name of any (I've seen them on the telly)!
