yes Sony Cybershot is the best for me. I had two years of manual photography classes in college as a hobby. I found Sony great in all aspects especially at night because you can manipulate the controls to manual and Sony will do what the handler is capable of doing. Sony are the best. Dont buy anything less $300, if you are going digital spend a little more than that so you get the full satisfaction and with that the money is worth every penny you spent. Goodluck

The absolute best non SLR camera that money can buy is the Sony DSC-R1 10 megapixel camera. Most SLR cameras are not as good as the R1 unless you spend an extra grand or so buying a decent lens (the lens that comes as part of the kit absolutely sucks).
An R1 will run you in the range of $700 if you know where to shop. If you are interested in SLR, you will need about $2000 for a good setup. Canon makes the best ones.
For most people, an SLR camera is not a good choice. You need actual skill in photography to make these cameras give good shots. The main problem is the inability to see what your shot will look like until after you take it. The viewfinder will show you the framing of the picture but nothing else at all about the shot. It's a lens, not a miniture tv screen like consumer cameras. You cannot use the screen on your camera to preview the shot. Only to look at the results after you take it.
Contrast that with the R1. Like any fixed lens digicam, you can use the screen to frame your shot. Unlike most digicams, the screen actually matches up with the shot (this is not true with most cheaper digicams). Better, the computer will actually show you exactly what your picture will look like before you take it. It's pretty idiot proof.
If you simply like taking pictures, you definitely do not want an SLR camera. Only get one if you are a serious hobbiest who studies the technical end of photgraphy and is able to do many of the things a professional photgrapher would do in taking a shot. More than one person I know has shelled out big bucks for an SLR, only to complain that it takes lousy pictures. It takes lousy pictures only because you don't know what you are doing. Any idiot could take fantastic pictures with the R1.

Sonys are great if you NEVER plan to take any pictues at night, they SUCK at taking night shots. Canon has so far been the best for me, I have the digital rebel and the digital elph. Obviously the rebel takes better pics but they have both been great. I had 3 sonys before and they were great until I took night shots, I am a nightclub dj so it is fairly important to have that capability....

Sony Cybershot.
Try a camera with more mega pixels and large scree size.
Of course, it all depends on your budget and digicams are available for as low as 100-125 US dollars. Before you buy the camera, suggest read some of the popular photography magazines, which will help you decide buy a digicam.
All the best.
