Yes. Subjecting young, not yet fully-formed lungs to smoke is inherently wrong. That's the biggest reason why I smoke outside. The other reason is because nobody else should have to smoke my cigarettes with me, either. I have the right to smoke only if no one else is affected by it

Actually, while some studies have shown that second-hand smoke is more harmful than first-hand smoke, recently some studies have countered this by saying that second-hand smoke is actually harmless.

So, depending which one you believe, smoking around children might or might not be child abuse.

I think the biggest problem with smoking around children is that they might get the signal that smoking is acceptable, and a cool thing to do, and hence pick it up when they are older. Children often seek approval, and sometimes do it by imitating.

yes i believe it is an abuse.
just cos your not touching them or shouting and screaming at them does not mean your not emotionally harming them.
smoking around your children harms them in ways we dont even see. but when you have to take your children to the doctors cos there health is not 100% and they tell you its smoke related what do you?
you go home light up another smoke still not understanding the fact that it cant be your smoking thats harming your child.
asthma / bronchitis / are a couple of the things caused by smoking around your child.
passive smoking is more harmful than smoking your self.

Child abuse? Isn't that a little extreme? It is definitely not a good idea or thing to do though. It is not against the law or I would perhaps be much busier than I am. With no time at all for donuts and coffee

No, it is child endangerment. The Surgeon General's report on the now even WORSE news about second hand smoke might make it more difficult for smoker's rights...in the long run. And that cannot happen fast enough for me.

It isn't that I harbor any ill will against smoker's, I mean, they harbor plenty for themselves, but it is such a vile habit.

I wouldn't say child abuse unless you have them tied to a chair and you're blowing smoke in their face, but it's certainly not a good idea and it's really easy to just not smoke when you're around them, unless you're outside at a distance.

Smokers should be shot on sight. They are ALWAYS dirty and low class. Their cars are filty and their homes are always with the windows closed regardless of the weather. The kitchen sink will be filled with dirty dishes and the floor will have stains and droppings everywhere. The bedroom sheets will be changed twice a year. The shower will be caked with black grime. The only clean spot in the house will be around the gun rack.

It's abuse. The idiot smoking has a choice, the poor child inhaling his contaminated surroundings does not. Essentially giving him/her a slow death. It's absolutely pathetic and weak of a person to do that.
