Carpet and wall colors:
With your forest green marble go with creams, soft golds and ambers, picking up your accent cues from the colors in your Italian paintings. Some people say glazed walls are going out. To that I say pfffft! The Tuscany look of sun bleached walls in the above named golds and ambers are dynamite! Elegant, soft, and with visual texture they are always beautiful.
Consider not using carpeting. Hardwood floors, wood laminate, or acid washed concrete (expensive but beautiful and used in the most elegant homes) will work beautifully with your Italian theme. Use area rugs to soften the space.
Consider getting rid of the red brick in your fireplace.
You could paint it, of course, but then it would look like...painted brick. There are some products you can use to fill in the spaces between the brick, then some gorgeous options to finish the facade: marbelizing (faux finish), real marble or tile, and a product that replicates sandstone that is gorgeous. Or cover it with a facade of wood using moldings and carved wooden appliques.
Have fun. It will end up lovely, I'm sure.

The use of color is also something very personal. It stimulates our senses, power our mood, and helps create a particular ambiance. How we respond to an individual color depends on our nature, extroverts tend to feel happy with bold colors, while introverts prefer more passive colors.
Through using specific combinations of color, combined with a careful consideration of simple color schemes is often the most effective.
Try not to use more than one or two principal colors in a room, as well as a contrasting or balancing tone. The best way to choose a background color for the room is to trial with a palette of different shades and tones, in combination with the color and textures of the furniture and materials. Remember the general color schemes of a home have to be in agreement. The walls define the space in a room, while the colors, to a large degree, define the mood.
Colored light, furnishing materials, and structural proportions, we can create a home that is welcoming, helpful, and comfortable. Walls are similar to background music: each color tone is like a musical note can create a pleasant-sounding harmony while others grate with each other.
The color with which we surround ourselves will without doubt have an effect on us, and so it is important to feel comfortable with our choice. A discussion with a professional color consultant can help to decide individual needs and select appropriate color.
Colors can be divided into three main groups: those that stimulate and uplift, those that relax and calm, and those that provide harmony or balance. So, having taken a number of things into thought when decorating a room, such as the size of the space, the amount of light, the function if the room, and the style and mood we wish to create, we finally, and most importantly, need to consider the needs of the people who use it.

I am seeing a plaster treatment for the walls in very soft golden/tan color. The carpets in the same family. You have enough going on with the green to have a bright or dark color, but white is much too stark with the green--a la awning stripes. I am in a rental house with white walls and dark green carpet, and it is getting on my nerves! There is just too high a contrast between the walls and the floor. I wish I could paint, let me tell you! Good luck with this.

use light shades of lemon yellow, flueorescent greens and slightly dark orange-red to go with the fireplace, and have the painter blend the red and orange to the yello for a soft finish....u could have some italian motifs panted on the walls and ceilings to better match the look

Blues, reds or yellows. I would make those cream colored walls a khaki color and coordinate the rest with a blue gray, yellow or red color. Or, just use them all. A lot of colors together look better than just one or two or three. But since you can not change the walls go with the other coordinates. You can also add color to the walls by hanging pictures with ribbon.
