Don't go, please don't go.

But as that probably can't be done... uhm... get a second dog?

buy a cat...jk, but that would keep the dog amused (I don't think the cat would be too happy about it). A lot of pet stores sell treat dispensers that will give the dog a treat or food depending on how the timer is set...that would help. Also make sure the dog has plenty of toys to play with. Leaving a tv on might help the dog to think that someone is still in the house so she won't get lonely.

1. don't go out for a long time. 2. give him a lot of toys, sqeaky toys are pretty good. 3. get another dog for him, company always should be there. 4. turn on the tv/radio. 5. get him goldfish (to watch), they're pretty interesting to some dogs. 6. make sure you put plastic covers over your furniture, your dog might rip it up. 7. get a robot to play with it. 8. make sure you play a lot with it after you come back and before you leave. 9. give him plenty of food and water, then when you come back and everything's very good, give him treats and praise him. 10. dogs shouldn't be left alone because they're social animals. that's why you should get a companion for him.

I leave my dog in a crate if we are going to be gone for longer than 1 hr. But I leave the TV on and he has lots of toys and rawhides in there. When you get home play with him and he'll be alright. Some people get more animals but it really doesnt help. My mom tried that She has 3 in her house and they still cry when she leaves. She started leaving the TV on and it tricked them into thinking they werent alone.

Well, 1 do not leave for long periods of time or else you'll come home to ripped up furniture. 2 give him plenty of toys or give him a companion...dogs tend to take their agressions out on objects if they don't get social interactions for long periods of time. My dog is pretty happy with her squeaky toys and all the rags that used to be toys. But if I leave her alone for like 7 hours...she rippes the foam out of my media chair. Then when you come home give him/her plenty of interaction. My dog loves tug of war and going on walks.

Get him a Kong that you can fill with peanut butter or thier brand of filling, a treat or puzzle ball that you can fill with hard treats is good too. Nylabones are durable plastic bones that cannot be chewed apart and they guarantee that the largest piece your dog can chew off is size of grain of rice....I use them for my dog as he is a powerful chewer and they have stood the test so far. Also you can put him outside before you go and hide treats all around the house and then let him back in right before you leave and let him have a treasure hunt..LOL There are also movies of made for dogs to watch that have all sorts of interesting small animal footage they like to watch.
