Permit me to cover my butt for a moment. heheh

I don't have anything against Christians. My mother is a Catholic (which is like the same) and her side of the family is very religious. =) So I respect them.

It's not just some sects of Christianity that do this. Many other religions also insist that they are the ONE TRUE religion, and all the others are false.

It has to do with controlling how people think. If you are raised in a religion that teaches you that all other religions are wrong, you will be more likely to stick with your religion and support it (with money and trying to bring in new members).

This definitely is NOT the will of God at work, but the will of Man... specifically, greedy men.

It's why all the televangelists are so incredibly rich. They have scared tons of people that they need to send in money, or face going to hell. It sounds incredibly simplistic the way I have stated it here, but just watch The 700 Club to see what I mean.

For anyone who feels that they have been wronged by Christians or that Christians have a superiority complex of some sort, I'm sorry. Especially if they do or say things in a pushy or hurtful manner.

The Bible teaches that being Christ-like or a Christian is the way. Anyone who truly follows any religion will probably find the same or similar concept. It's just how it is. Most religions teach disciplines that expect true devotion in order to fully reap the benefits now and/or the after-life. So it's not that they are bad, it's just that according to the disciplines of most all religions, other outside religions will not benefit and actually might distract you from your path of discipline.

I personally believe the Bible is absolute. But I don't use that to make people feel attacked.

I get annoyed sometimes but then I think about when I was a christian and how they taught you to fear so much. When you don't know about things then you tend to say they are evil. I have looked into many religions and I say to each their own. Not all of the christians are doing it. There are a few that keep reposting the same things though. That is a little irritating.

Just as the Nazis (who were christians) needed to demonize the jews before they could enact the holocaust, religion can't perpetrate such crimes without putting other people down.

Religions also borrow bits and pieces from other religions to make their own more palatable and thus acceptable to local populations, hence why many international religions have regional variations. It's easier to supersede a religion when you superimpose one over others.

The christian cult, for example, borrowed "easter" and worship of "Mary" from European Earth-centred religions that predate it (Oestre, from where we get the word "estrogen"). They also borrowed hallowe'en/all saints day, December 25th from two sources (druidism and Mithraism), the "clay into man" myth from the Greek's Prometheus. The fable of Moses is borrowed from Egyptian historical fact and Sumerian myth of Gilgamesh and Marduk. I could go on all day, but you get the point.

I usually just get a little smile on my face as I wait for them to finish their spiel. There is humor in it if I look for it. I try to remember that they are only doing what they think they should be doing and I treat them more politely than they are treating me (my beliefs are pagan). They are probably doing the best that they know how to be loyal to their beliefs. Isn't that what we are all doing? Sometimes it gets to me, but most times I can chuckle about it and go on.
