Why do so many people think it's wrong for, say, a white girl to date a black guy? And what should I do to get my parents to see that I really like this guy?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with interracial dating - the problems that exist are due to the narrow-mindedness of people who are ignorant enough to believe that it's not right.

So just stay with your boyfriend, once your family realises how much you love each other and how happy you make each other, they'll hopefully come around and accept it. If you make it through that, you can make it through anything. Good luck.

Once upon a time people had pride in their own race or tribe and mixing was unheard of. The residuals of that thinking has just been passed down from generation to generation. Now that our societies have been intermingling for centuries, we should be past that thinking.

However, I am prejudice about people who consider race first when they hook up. I know a lot of white women that say they will only date black men and to me thats just stupid. Just as much as it is stupid for a white woman to say she WONT date black men, because people like that dont consider the person inside first- they look at the race first. I would be insulted if a woman was only dating me because I was white- instead of who I am inside.

ANYONE who considers race before all else is a racist. I think we now have what we should call "neo-racists" too. Those are the ones who flock to another race JUST so they DONT look racist. Malcolm X despised these types which was why he didnt want to be helped by white people. He believed (and was usually right) that the white people that flocked to him to help, were doing it for other motives. He didnt want to be helped BECAUSE he was black (actually was himself mixed)- he wanted to know people were helping him because he, as a human being, needed help. Not for some self satisfying motives that they usually had.

I totally believe the majority of everyone. Nonstoplvr, the only thing thats 'pure' is everyone elses thoughts on this subject. Your thinking is wrong, man. Its an exciting thing to be with someone of a different race. I am. Many others are too.

Anyway, your parents try to keep tradition but if you don't feel the same way they do, then don't. Simple as that. Its your choice.

It's not wrong, that's for sure! It's just that society has that misconception that only people with the same race must elope. I know a lot of people from webdate dot com who feel the same way as you do! Check it out!

because you've got to keep the races pure - too many mongrels being born these days - we'll wind up paying for it in the end. If my kid ever married someone outside her/his race - I'd disown her/him
