Electricity running through a person tends to make their face contort... and often glazes the eyes. The mask is for the witnesses, not for the gaurds or the person being executed.

I believe so. If I am correct, and you have to ask an expert, it is a gruesome experience on their face. Someone once told me eyes either roll in the back of their head, some pop out, and with that much electricity, you're actually being cooked. That is what I think happens, but don't swear me to that...

it it quite logical that a person who is goin to be hanged or executed in a few moments would reflect on the pat and would feel for it.knowingly or unknowngly their facial expressions also change hence.due to this change the executioner may consider going back on what he is supposed to be doin meanin that the human in him will show some mercy for him and let off......
another factor is that he is covered with a black cloth symolising shame for the act for which he has been convicted....
i suggest u ask a lawyer too abt this.

They aren't called guards they are called officers and it is so the person dying doesn't see who did it and also so any family, press, or victims watching do not have to bear witness to anything uncomfortable for them to see as the party dies.
