Perhaps you can get a co-signatory to the credit card. Someone you trust and who trusts you.

Here's one way....purchase an item from a furniture store on lay-away. This allows you to make payments by schedule. Maintain the payments on time if not early. A card distributor will eventually pick up your name and send you an invitation to use their card.
Do not accept more than one card. Credit cards are big trouble if used improperly. In addition, all the small print is worth reading so keep those papers in the bathroom, if you know what I mean.
Lastly, when you get the card, do not be foolish and by frivolous crap. Start by asking your family to help you build credit worthiness. Here's how: ask them if they could give you the cash for their food shopping. You then pay for their food with your card. Wait two days, then pay off the credit card. After about three months of this, you will have developed a quick payoff policy in the eyes of the credit card company and be in better standings. Good luck.

See if someone in your family will add you as an authorized user to their card(s). Just be sure that the card(s) you are added to have an excellent history and low utilization. Otherwise you are just defeating your purpose.

You can go to Orchard Bank and HSBC websites and try the card selector. It will not pull a hard inquiry to just do the selector. It will pull a hard inq. if you actually apply for a recommended card. Keep in mind that even if a card is recommended, there is no guarantee that you will be approved.

I agree with the other posters about getting a small loan from your bank and build some history and good credit with that.

Hit your bank up for a personal loan. Like $500 over 6 months and make the payments. Remember, BABY STEPS. Start small. It all adds up in the end.

You say no car place will approve you but I bet you haven't tried them all. That's the easiest thing to buy with bad or no credit there is. Hit what they call a pot lot, cheap used cars with lots of miles, they can get you bought.
