there were 4 mexicans and they were going to cross a river...they read a sign that said ...NO TRESPASSING!!!!.... SO MOST OF THE GUYS WENT ANYWAY BUT LEFT ONE BEHIND.....why was 1 left behind..??

Oh, maybe because they only thought "tres" (3) were allowed to cross ("TRESpassing). But it would have made more sense if only 2 crossed since the sign said NO trespassing.

Because 'tres' means 3 to the Mexicans.
Hence, 'No Trespassing' means (to them) 3 cannot pass. Since there are three of them, one has to be left behind.

They thought that only two could pass because in spanish Tres means 3 and they probably thought the sign said No Tres passing.
