Why should they be tax exempt when they bilk people out of their money with their lies, and then use that money to kill almost all animals they 'rescue' (term used loosly), and to further their anti-animal agenda?
The rest of the animal haters like HSUS, DDAL, and IDA, among numerous others, should lose their tax exempt status for the same reason.

I think the video is pretty self-explanatory. If you give $40,000 of money donated under false pretenses for acts of terrorism, you have violated the code of transparency under which non-profits must act.
Again, I raise the same question I posted a while back, "How many Americans understand the difference between animal rights and animal welfare?" They are not the same thing at all!! The question is more important as lobbies take on issues that affect all of our lives. Learn the difference, people, before deciding who to give your money to! Animal rights activists DO NOT advocate the kind of animal welfare issues most people think they do. There are groups truly in support of ethical treatment, use, and co-existence with animals, but PETA is not one of them. If you truly want to deprive people in the 3rd world of milk cows, set all pets free, and bring medical discovery to a screeching halt, then support PETA, by all means. If you want to ensure laboratory animal use is justified and that the most humane treatment possible is afforded them, support ILAR, AALAS, or any of several other organizations. If you want to see puppy mills eradicated, support the AKC and animal rescue organizations. Don't believe that PETA is the best organization out there because they get the most publicity.
Actual PETA quote, "To those people who say 'my father is alive today because of animal research', I say, 'That rat died so your father could live. I'm sorry, I just can't justify that trade-off"'.
Unfortunately, most people do not know the truth, and it is not popular right now to learn the facts before making your opinion public. Scary stuff. 2/3 of all letters sent to Congress are about animal research.

PETA unfortunately doesn't exactly do what we on the surface would like to think they do. If they in fact were simply vegetarians who wanted to make the lives of animals better by shutting down puppy mills and keeping humane conditions on farms then they would be great. However while this is what they claim to be they actually kill dogs, and don't even want us to be allowed to keep pets at all. I agree with some of their philosophy's but when you look at their agenda of no pets and total animal freedom (to the point of opening dog crates at shows) you have to draw the line.

Probably because they see nothing wrong with slaughering innocent living beings, and think people shouldn't try to protect the aforementioned beings.
