No, I used a rewards system ... good behavior created the rewards, bad behavior took away the rewards.

In schools today, at least were I am from, children are taught many things including good touch, bad touch and what to do if they are being hit/slapped/punched etc. Children here are fully aware that Child services can and will protect them. Sometimes that can get people into trouble where it shouldn't but...

Hitting, smacking kids today is socially unacceptable and if done in public (shopping mall etc) people will report the behavior and the parent can find themselves in an unwanted situation with the law and social service.

Yes, I gave my children a spanking on their behind when they needed it. I see how today's children are out of control because their parents are afraid to spank them. If you watch a mother bear with her cubs or even a cat with her kittens, you will see that they put their young in place by cuffing them.

If a parent has tried reasoning with their child and isn't getting anywhere then I believe a spanking may be in order. I don't believe in hitting children across the face, in the head, or anywhere else on the body except the butt. I also don't believe in using belts, however and open hand on the butt can do wonders.

It's too bad there have been parents that didn't know how to control themselves and literally beat their children leaving marks on them and even ended up killing them in some instances. These are the parents that have made it difficult for reasonable people to be able to properly discipline their children.

i talk to them and if it does not work then i take the things they love to do the most away from them for awhile. that usually does the trick, after all they feel like they cannot live without the playstation or there friends... smile although every once in awhile a smack on the bottom does work. ,kids today do not know how lucky they are to not have grown up back in the day when my generation was coming up....smile

Daily, Weekly, monthly hell no!

On her birthday I do give her birthday spankings. I also have only spanked my 6 year old, twice in her life. Once was when she walked into the road while my sister was driving away and the second was when she opened the door and walked out of my house without telling anyone where she was going.

I never lay a hurtful hand on my child unless what she did could hurt more than me spanking her (such as getting run over by a car would hurt alot more than a spanking).

Well I have. I found that now that he's older, he behaves better and there is no need for it.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with a good spanking. If anything it shows the child you mean business and won't tolerate such behavior. I used to get spanked when i was younger, and I don't hold it against my parents at all. If anything, I appreciate they put me in my place.

Smacking is unacceptable no matter what. there is no need to smack your child.

I only smacked my kids to get their attention. Sometimes a smack on the bottom will work wonders on a tantrum

No,but I used to swat their lil butts or hands when they were little if a glare & tone of voice did'nt work.Hitting or smacking them is a little too harsh.I know alot of people don't believe in "spanking" & thats why kids are so out of control now. Most parents today are to "P.C." & the kids take over. All time outs do is give them time to think of ways to show their asses again.

No, it would teach them that hitting & smacking is okay, and that they deserve to be hit & smacked, which they don't
