I think there should be meaningful, lawfully empowered and well-managed enforcement, citizen participation, a physical barrier where necessary, and a national open debate on the issue so as to clarify and publicize the issue. I think the media's really pushed this one under the rug, so have some of our representatives,
and there's no small amount of money involved, hence their reticence to put the facts out there on the front page.

I think there also needs to be a dialogue with the home countries that these people come from. If their governments put up the word that going to america illegally can get you fined, jailed, deported etc., then that'll cool a lot of interest in doing so. I think it's high lunacy for our representatives to fail to vote to act,
I think it'd be a really great thing for the senate and the house to send their members out to really find out what's really up, talk to many many people and find out what the impact of illegal immigration has been in their communities, talk to state officials and find out the REAL deal on what law enforcement has to say about it, and then educate the rest of the nation on their findings.
You know, lay all the facts on the table, and then come up with some good, workable answers.

I think an inexpensive, yet highly effective first step would be a hotline system. There's 280 million lawful residents in our country, a hotline would help utilize that human resource pretty effectively...also start levying meaningful fines against employers of illegals. If a business or company knowingly hires illegal workers, they should face a rising scale of fines until the practice is stopped. I think both deportation and employer sanctions will benefit from a '1st offense free' stance, the 'fair warning' that
most of us would appreciate, but after that the fines go into effect, start pulling business licenses and that'll bring stuff to a short halt. Some cities are already enacting laws that make it unlawful to rent to people that are in our country illegally, so
without a place of residence, and no job, there's no real appeal to being in the US at all. Follow that by curtailing public services
to illegals, emergency services ONLY, and by shipping people home in rapid and professional fashion.

Something's got to be done on this one...

Its damn near impossible. Your dealing with the same problem as long long supply lines that you have to maintain forever. Its very hard, and very difficult. Its the same reason we will never get any oil out of Iraq under American occupation. Oil pipelines are basically long long supply lines that its not cost effective to secure with how many troops it would take--its the same for the American Mexican border. To really secure the border it would be so damn expensive over time that its doomed to fail. You might be able to do it with short term burst--but even that is going to fail.

A shoot first ask questions never policy. They wanna break our rules, then they'll have to risk their lives.
If they do this in order to get land they lost legally a long time ago, then they should think about how badly they would lose in a war. Americans are armed and are not afraid to defend themselves against these criminals.

I think it needs to be tough. We have plenty of servicemen right here in the US more than enough-put them down there.
Start getting the razor sharp fence up. Yes close it up.
This is not a joke and should be done-we don't know who is coming in and with what.

a fence and more boarder patrol agents. Less beauracracy, more enforcement. Let the boarder patrol do their jobs. Give them the technology and man power needed. And again, Build that fence!!!!

all we have to do is actively and aggressively enforce laws against hiring illegals... then there'd be no reason for them to come. period.
