You should never use discipline in teaching children anything. I dont know what you have already tried, but you could try making it fun in some way and praising and rewarding him when he does well.
Make him responsible for when he wants to use the toilet. This includes not punishing him for mistakes and not reminding him to use the potty. If he seems fearful, you can try and discuss calmly what it is about using the potty that scares him.

genuinely, often times it is only a terror aspect with them- we do no longer comprehend what is going by little ones' heads - the added situation is made from it, the added likely he's to resist you and to take longer to bypass #2 contained in the lavatory. Do you've a pullup or diaper for at the same time as he needs to poop or does he merely bypass in his undies? fairly, i have self belief this isn't a conflict worth combating- merely let him poop the position he's tender (even if in a diaper, pullup, etc.). in spite of if he does this for yet another year or so (which one among my buddy's sons did- he became age 4 at the same time as he finally realized it became alright to poop on the lavatory), it gained't damage him and he will experience he has administration. Push him too puzzling and he may initiate protecting it altogether and that could want to creat an complete new host of issues. At 2 a million/2 he continues to be on the more youthful area of potty education and is doing tremendous going #a million surprisingly continuously already! What i'd do is take his poop (if he does it in a diaper) and make a huge coach of flushing it and showing what an astounding aspect it fairly is... sturdy success! i'd wager funds that he gained't be nevertheless doing this at the same time as he is going off to varsity- this, too, shall bypass!!!

I have a 5yr. old he's been potty trained all the way since he was 3...You should hurry up and nip that in the bud, before he starts kindergarten or you are going to have a problem on your hands..

Even though this seems a bit late in the game. . .he is a boy. . .and not surprising (I have two!)
At one level. . .give up on the intensity of your effort. . .but not entirely. . .just do this for the time being: scheduled times to at least "sit" on the toilet. . .may 2-3 times. . .give him verbal praise or a reward for just sitting there, etc. . .then. . .take him to Target or Walmart, etc. pick out (with his involvement) a nice pattern of boy briefs (appreciating that for his age/size they may be disappearing soon!). . .but with the reminder that he only gets to wear "Sponge Bob" or "Superman" or "Jack Sparrow?" when he can go both ends in the toilet. Try this for a month or two.
Also. . .if you haven't already done this. . .check in with your pediatrician or advice nurse (if at a larger practice).
Good luck. . .you already know how this will end eventually!

Most people cant poop at will. Once he learns to learn to get up at night and use the toilate by himself thats when he will poop in the toilet. Don't worry he will learn, kids like independence and he will outgrow his diapers once he is able to go to the toilet by himself. Just have paitence with him other wise he might grow up having issues.

If your 5 year old still will not poop in the toilet you need help that only a doctor can provide.

ok, so about 1 to 2 hours before you put him to bed, give him a good sized cup/glass of real apple juice, or two! within an hour, he'll have to go. works best with an empty stomach.

if he doesnt, take something away from him. like the tv or one of his toys. tell him, if you're not big enough to go potty on the toilet, you're not big enough to watch tv, or play with a particular toy. good luck
