Love is when you care deeply for another. All the good times you have you would like for the person you love to be there. being with someone all the time because you love them. Problem is that does not mean the person you love is going to love you back. Love is taking a chance on something your heart believes is true. Heck I tried to answer but thats a hard question. I keep thinking about a girl I loved years agoe.

There are different kinds of love...love for your parents, your friends, your pets, etc. If you mean romantic love, you will know the ONE when you meet them. Until then, you can have all sorts of interactions with people of the opposite sex, but it won't have much real meaning until you find your one true love, if you are lucky enough to find them at all.
