It's completely wrong. Dogs are pack oriented creatures and belong with their humans. Why get a dog if you aren't going to spend time with them? I can't imagine what is wrong with people who leave these wonderful, loving creatures out in the cold and heat. It just sickens me and you can tell your mom so!!! I'm glad you didn't end up thinking like her. Keep talking to her and maybe you can change her mind.
A Dog's Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

I recently moved from where i had a doggy door, and all my dogs were able to come and go as they pleased...About 1/2 of them preferred to stay outside, unless the weather was bad...Even though the ones that liked outside were just as loving and well trained, they just liked to be outside. I think it was more interesting to them.
Some of them only went outside to pee or poo, but they all had a choice.
Many people prefer being and working out of doors, and many are white collar workers or couch potatoes...I think dogs are the same.
Now I live where there is no doggy door, and I have to let them in and out....They always want on the opposite side of the door.

According to PETA , if an "outside" dog has access to fresh water all the time, is fed properly , has proper love, care, and a shelter in case of rain, they should be fine. I think if you have an outside dog they should be brought in for extreme cold temps or storms as well. I am more offended by people who chain dogs up all the time. It is absolutely inhumane. If you want an "outside" dog, you should build a fence for the dog to be able to be safe and have appropriate exercise. Plus, chained dogs become very aggressive. I have a dog, and he is not house trained right now, and sometimes I am tempted to put him outside, lol.

I think you should bring the dog in and put your mother outside all day in the same condition she forces the dog to stay in.
I've heard many try to defend themselves for keeping the dog out by saying it's a watchdog there to alert them to prowlers.
Big deal. The dog spends so much time barking all night that if a prowler ever does come on the property the owner will ignore the animal anyway. And I can't count the times I've heard stories of peoples homes being robbed while the dog was tied up out back. The dog can't defend what he can't get to.

I hate seeing dogs outside, it's just so sad looking. Even if they have dog houses I don't think it's right. it's probably because I always assume that the dog is out there 24/7 and never gets any interaction or human affection. also those images of the dogs on that show animal precinct comes to mind. ( I think that's the name of the show).

properly maximum canines, like mine are strolling stomachs so i imagine thats the position the perception got here from, besides the undeniable fact that you spot alot extra overweight canines now than you probably did 10 or 2 many years in the past. effective reinforcement works o.k. for some canines. i quite imagine "effective reinforcement" (in a unmarried way or yet another) is right here to stay for a minimum of a lengthy time period so long because it is in any respect effective. i imagine extra human beings might want to be experienced themelves formerly getting a canines. canines wouldnt misbehave if the owneres didnt let them. Get what i'm putting forward? LOL

I don't mind if a dog is outside as long as it's not chained up and has access to the basic necessities (food, water, shelter, etc.) and if the owner brings him/ her inside if the weather is too hot/ cold or stormy. It also depends on the dog. A friend of mine has a very unusual Husky. He will not stay out if it's cold outside, but if it's warm out, he'll lay out in the sun. Personally, I've always kept my dogs inside, and let them out when they needed/ wanted to go out.

Dogs are pack animals and want to be with the pack. If the family is sleeping outside with the dog, then the dog will be happy. Presumably, the family is sleeping inside, so that is where the dog will want, and should, be. People who say they have "outside" dogs usually are too lazy to train them to be welcome family members and stay inside. It is the peoples' fault for this, not the dogs, but the dogs are the ones who wind up paying the price.

I think that if you want to have your dog outside thats ok. as long as you spend time with it, and don't just leave it out there in the yard bored and lonely.
I also believe where you live makes a big diff. for example dogs have a coat. leaving them out in the hot sun is just mean.
I personally keep mine indoors, it keeps them cooler and cleaner. also i don't believe you should just own a dog. i believe you should train it and let it be part of the family.

I keep my furry little family members inside even though they shed like mad ( we have two German Sheperds) My thought on this is... why get a pet & then keep it outside chained to some ragged dog house or running about in a fenced yard. If your going to get a pet to toss it outside & ignore it what's the point of having it? There should be some sort of law that protects dogs from that type of abuse & neglect.
