If he has a favorite blanket he likes to hump through it over a cactus.
He'll stop humping all together.

Getting the dog fixed won't stop the problem but it'll at least slow it down considerably.
Dogs are like children and are naturally curious about sex.At a certain age they go thru puberty just like we do and because they can't masturbate they experiment by humping whatever is available.Females do this as well.
I have 2 dogs. One neutered and one not.And they both tried it.A pat on the rump and a harsh "NO NO" a few times was all it took to correct the behavior. They grow out of it just like us.

Yepper! But they still have feelings. I have 2 neutered male dogs, & sometimes one trys to hump the others head! Wrong end! Confused? One is 5 the other is 10, I've only seen this once. They are great dogs!

Once the dog starts with this behavior neutering will not always stop him from "humping" however, it shoud reduce the urge. When he starts to hump, scold him verbally and move him away from the object. Love goes a lot further than yelling or hitting him.

Neutering should help, but if he is an older dog it may have developed into a habit rather than a hormone driven problem.

Also, don't expect a miracle type over night change. The hormones that drive that particular behavior will still be present in his bloodstream for some time.

I had a dog that did the same thing, spading may help , but not always, some dogs are weird like people are, patience and kindness and a firm "NO" may help when you catch him in the act. It may be just something you will have to live with. At least he ain't picking up stray female dogs or eating poop. I had a small dog that liked cats......ooohhh but true........good luck.

Neutering him would help with the dominance issue. Also more exercise to help with the boredom. Keep him busy by playing with him or giving him something to do. So many people assume that the dog needs a mate but that really isn't true.

If you have the dog neutered the problem will be fixed and have your animal spaded or neutered is a great thing to do.

don't. I am against neutering dogs because It isn't fair. Would you be happy if someone knocked you out and then took out your parts to have babies. not all dogs should be neutered because that would kill the world of dogs!!! keep this in mind plz...

get him neutered. it's a snip-snip fairly inexpensive surgery.

it will eliminate the humping just about entirely and do it quickly.

it will put an end to his sexual frustration and an end to your being frustrated with his behavior.

its a win-win situation for everyone! yippeee!
