Neither, as an atheist I don't say I can do it alone all we need is ourselves. I just don't believe there is a higher being. Christians aren't any happier then atheists either, they both deal with the same problems day to day. They also have the same kind of things that give them joy, children, spouses, friends, work, social life, etc. Truly the only difference is I don't believe in something and they do.

God lives with in a born again Christian. I think God is the most confident being ever. If Christ lives through me then I am also confident, extremely more than you can ever believe.

Christians need God's help and that is right, while atheist need atheist, both need someone or somebody to exist.
you cannot say that the other is more confident than the other for both rely on someone else's help,
and/ or no one can say that he does not need somebody else to live, even when he is rich and powerful.
atheist can say surely can say that they don't need God's help for they have each other,
but God is so gracious that he gives grace to everyone, even to atheist.
and if one is so confident about their selves, why ask the other ones faith and belief?

Your confidence is your belief. You can't have confidence if you don't believe first. The question is do they have more faith in their belief. Yes, both Christians and Atheist have faith in their religion or non religion, but, the faith of a Christian is bigger because they believe in something, Atheist believe in nothing.

Confidence is not something I strive for.
I have to lean on God because I am nothing in my own strength.

I think that I have seen fear on both sides of the equation. If someone were confident in their beliefs, would they need to attack everyone else's?
Best wishes.
