I met a woman in the where I work a little while back. She and I was standing out side smoking. She said that she doesn't understand why they stop people from smoking in public places. I told her I didn't either. I smoke in my house and in my car. I should be able to smoke where ever I want. As long as it doesn't bother any one else. she told me that she doesn't smoke in her house or her car, but she still should be able to smoke in public. What I don't understand is why do you think that you have the right to smoke in public, but your house and car is off limits. I really just don't understand that.

The thing that really gets me here is how many smokers really wonder whether they're bothering anyone else? Non-smoking sections in most restaurants are still a joke. I have to ask to sit in the non-smoking section as far away from the smoking section as possible if I don't want to breathe the vile smoke while I'm eating. I should not have to smell that crap while I'm eating. And for the people who say if you don't like to smell the smoke, don't go to the restaurant, bar, etc. that's crap. The smokers are the ones polluting the air. Why should I have to stay home and not have fun to stay healthy? Smoking is a horrible, horrible habit. I wish the tobacco companies could be made to change the ingredients so cigarettes wouldn't be so addictive so it would be easier for people to quit.

Smoking is disgusting. It is a selfish habit and a smelly one too. Especailly second hand smoke. Also, do you know how many people out there leave ciragreate buds all over the place that i s disgusting as well. And, not a good example for the children. So, smoking in public should be off limits, in your house and car as well. There should be no smoking period.

Smoking is one of the most selfish habits there is, unless the person chooses not to be. I had cancer and recently underwent high dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. I can't be around smoke at all because my lungs are so fragile. If I'm somewhere and someone lights up, I have to put on this stupid, uncomfortable mask that's hard to breathe in. Many people with other lung afflictions have similar problems, not to mention that smoke makes you smell disgusting and it's bad for you.

Smokers should keep it in their own domain and let the rest of us enjoy the fresh air that our lungs crave.

Perhaps it is that her house and her car are small confined spaces that she would rather not have smelling of smoke; whereas, outside or at a restaurant is an open space where she won't have to deal with smelling it all the time.

my roomate smokes and i hate it i cant stand the smell it gets on your clothes and it has health effects to the other people like second hand smoke and it makes certain people with health problems really uncomfortable and they arent able to breathe as easily.

is it really that much of an inconvenience to walk 10 feet?
or you know, stay in your house or in your car where there aren't people who are bothered by it.

you shouldn't smoke - period. it is bad for you and the people around you. secondhand smoke kills just as many. if you want to kill yourselves you should do it in the privacy of your own house.

I don't understand it either. Maybe she doesn't want her house and car to stink...but she doesn't mind if my clothes do.
