Any town is dangerous, just tell him to wear his body armor with insert every day no matter how hot it gets and he should be fine.

WHoa, okay. All of the answerers here seem to be pretty uninformed. I'm with the 101st Airborne division deployed to Ramadi, Iraq, right now, and we're working with a unit of the Iraqi Army that just rotated out of Fallujah, and according to them Fallujah is "very good" now. Things did calm down a lot after the Marines and IA raided it last year, your boyfriend shuld be fine.

As for Body Armor and the like, it's a requirement that when they leave their bases they wear it.

And third tour: it's not optional. If they tell you to go, you have to go.

All in all, you needn't worry so much about his safety, as a Medic he'll probably be based in the battalion aid station, if not, then he'll be moving under the protection of an Infantry platoon. We infantry take really good care of our beloved "DOcs".

Quit freaking out, first of all!! My brother is over there, too, and I always try to be positive and encouraging when talking to him!! Don't make him worry about you when he's trying to do a very important job!!! He needs to know that you are okay. Even if you're not you need to show him that you are okay!! I'm sure that you knew he was in the military, and chose to stay. Now act like you're worthy of such an important position of being his support!!
While he's there, pray hard!! Everyday!!

Much Love!!

All of the answers thus far seem to capture true feelings of the answerer.

For my money the most honest answer comes from "jesus lover"

My little sis prayed and supported me in my 2 years with the US Army 1966-1968. Just thinking of it now makes it seem like yesterday.

Today, at ages 59 for me, around 40 or 50 for Sis,(she looks even younger), (tell you how much I LOVE her?), we are so very close, and it all started with her letters in 1966.

The dangers are overstated by the media.

Yes - he is going in 'harms way.' But you can expect him to come back OK.

Yes, it's worse now b/c you don't know where your attackers are.
Also, he's not going to be the same when he comes back...you're gonna have to give him space. Don't push-not even to take out the trash! Oh, and tell all your friends: NEVER ASK IF HE KILLED ANYONE.
