I wrote a letter to a friend in WORD and printed it out. Then I went into my documents and deleted that WORD domument, but everytime I open WORD up, that same old letter to my friend is still there. Even if I delete the text, change it and save it as something else, my old letter to my friend will reappear the next time I open WORD. What's going on? How do I get rid of it for good?

The normal.dot template has been changed. You will need to delete (or a safer method is to "rename" )the normal.dot file on your computer. (right click the file, select rename instead of delete, then rename normal.dot.old),

Close ms word, and outlook and outlook express if you use them.

then

click the green start button, (lower left corner of your screen),
select the option "search", then search your "c" drive for the file

Normal.dot

rename the normal.dot file (anything will work normal1.dot, normal.dot.old )

then reopen word. It should be back to normal.

PS. if you see a file that shows $Normal.dot, don't erase/delete or rename that one, just "Normal.dot" with no dollar sign.

Ok, you can try the other guys answer first, but if it doesn't work, and as being that I have been there done that and it doesn't work, you will need to do something else. which would be to follow the steps I listed to rename the normal.dot template.

email if you need any assistance with this. Thanks.

I think you may have been using "SAVE AS" by mistake for "SAVE"? Try this!

OPEN word and read your letter one last time! CUT, DELETE. SAVE. CLOSE. Now re-open word and you should have a blank page to work with. Gimme an e- if it works for you and good morning from Thurrock, Essex, England

Please do not follow IcePrincess's advice unless you really know computers and I don't think you do just yet. Sorry IceP. but that is not safe advice for learners!
