Depends on the kid and depends on the dog in question. As a general rule kids and chihuahua do not mix well and the situation should be avoided so as not to distress the dog. They have a very nervous nature and need a calm environment. Environmental agitations can cause them to become defensive and aggressive to the point of biting. Most children do not have the maturity to respect the animals sensitive nature and therefore the animal will have a very stressful life.

No. Chihuahuas typically don't like kids. A mix of chihuahua would be better.

No. Chihuahuas are aggressive and now that they are so popular their over-breeding has made them often high-strung and nervous, nippy. Of course there are exceptions (so hush up all you chihuahua owners with lovely nice little dogs) but why take the chance?

chihuahuas are really small dogs. they get hurt very easily. i have one myself and sometimes when i am not careful enough he get kicked accidentally. and the worse thing is, he has black fur, very good at blending in with the dark. very easily hurt!! and when you play with them too much they start to open their mouth and look like he will bite you. kids might get freaked out by that. again not a good choice for kids. pick another breed. good luck!

no, i don't think chihuahua's make good pets for children.

chihuahua's don't have the temperment to be wooled, poked, prodded, stepped on or have their ears pulled by children.

its NOT their fault, its just not how God made them. i'd think a golden retriever would be a much better choice of pet for a child.

No, they are too delicate. Try a golden retriever, or lab. But try not to get a young puppy, a small child can get too rough with a small pup and hurt it. Teach your kids to be nice and gentle with a dog as well as teach the dog to be gentle with the kids.

No. Chihuahuas stick to one person and one person only. if anybody else comes up to them , they bit. They can be mean little devils and are extermely selfish towards other dogs.
they are to nervous around kids and snap at them, and bit them.
take this from someone who has been bit to blood by one.

I think it's the way they are raised. My step son has one that I watch everyday while he's at work and it is not good with children. But I had one as a child and we grew up together and she was fine as long as nobody tried to wrestle or swat at me around her, then she would get very aggressive with them.

There are some Chihuahuas that are fine with children. I used to have 3 of them, but the tiny ones are far too fragile...They really do break very easily, even if they were patient with children.

A Boston Terrier is a great small dog to raise with children. I have raised many foster children, and a Bostie is just right
.

Absolutely not. They are very fragile and can be nippy. My folks show Chi's and they do not sell (pet puppies) to people with young children.
