There are many of us out here. To find folks with pagan beliefs in your local area you could try here: http://www.witchvox.com/
Under the name of the site you will see the word "world". The drop-down menu will give you information about where to find local individuals, groups, events, yahoo groups, metaphysical shops, etc.

But we are definitely out here even though we can be silent at times.

There are more Pagans/Wiccans in society today than most people would like to believe. Some prefer to stay quiet about being a Pagan or Wiccan because believe it or not, some in society would shun them. I think that partially this goes back to the days where Pagans were so severly discriminated against and persecuted that they had to practice their beliefs at night and in secrecy. In today's society, we are still struggling to be accepted as good and decent people, not the 'evil', satanic demonic sterotype that has been cast on us.

When a person is taught that theirs is the one true religion, they feel fear when a 'new religion' is comes to light. Fear of what they do not understand leads to predjudice and hatred in some cases.

So to put it plainly, some stay in the background simply to avoid such negativity.

May the Goddess bless you and all you do!

It all depends on the individual on what they want to be called. Wiccan/Pagan or what have you . The reason that like myself I don't need validation as far as my religious beliefs are concerned. Don't get me wrong I have been told that I am going to Hell(Christian/Catholic concept) because of my beliefs. But all that matters is that I am good with myself. Also believe it or not their are more of us who believe than what people think. For all you know the next person who may ring up you re groceries/ cut you're hair or even work in the doctors office may just be a Pagan/Wiccan.

Actually, wicca (which is not a religion) and paganism (which, I think, is) are enjoying a great resurgence right now. Of course it does mean that the popularity means there is a lot of trash available on these two subjects put out by people trying to make a buck or just trying to be their idea of cool or with-it. But true practitioners do exist, people earnest in their beliefs in these areas are not as rare as your experience leads you to believe. A good site to check out: http://www.paganpride.org/

Edit: I stand corrected. Upon further research, I see that Wicca is accepted as a religion nowadays, rather than simply a system of practice as it once was.

I am a polytheist, that means I believe in and give reverence to many Gods and Goddesses. The path I follow I call Sean Shi which is pronounced Shan hlee. It is Irish and can be interpreted to mean "old path" or "old way". If you take all the polytheist religions including Wicca together then as a group we are the second fastest growing religion in the US. We are out here, we are just sometimes hard to find.

yes there are . even in the Christian church.though the church loathes to admit it. allot of their rites are the same as those in the pagan and wiccian community. they borrowed them to draw these so called heathens into their church and try to change there minds into the christian ways of thinking.
pagans and witches had no trouble with Christians and there ideas as they were similar. except for the names.
