Why are fancy plates refered to as "china" or "the good china"?

Ususally the fancy plates that people tend to spend a little more for are made of porcelain china.....not the cheaper materials

They were/are made of porcelain. The Chinese had been making porcelain for centuries before the West discovered the process. The name stuck as the epitome of luxury dinner ware.

i guess cuase its from china
or the chinese make those plates
