I'm planning on buying a photo printer but cant really decide what. The 2 Models im looking at is the Epson R1800 and the R2400. The R2400 is better because its cost more and higher model number means good! But R2400 has a 3.5 picoliter vs R1800 1.5 picoliter. Im just wondering which should i buy for the best price! And im limited on money. Thanks

picoliter is 10^-12 (0.000 000 000 001) liters ( a liter is about 1/3.5th of a gallon) this describes the size of the drop of ink spat at the paper.

Technically if done right the smaller drop allowes for a higher resolution. Effectivly too many other aspects make the picture quality that the drop size tells nothing.

The only thing that should sway you is the size of the prints, the 2400 prints 13 inches, the 1800 only 11.

The 2400 is only 16 seconds slower in printing 11X14 so that should not be an issue.

Unless you will provide professional printing services the print quality should not differ too much, but find a store that stacks both and request a printout to compare. You should be blown away by both.

Have Fun.

PS some of the cheaper printers (sub $200) offer very good quality for home use too.
