Tallbluewoman,

there´s a very old saying that goes:

"in vino veritas" (Latin)

meaning, not literally, but in my experience, that when people drink too much whey seem to spill out too much, unfortunately, too much truth.

Hope nobody has hurt you with their words!
Be well!

It has been said that a drunk speaks a sober mind. that may be true to a certain extent. but 9 times out of 10 they dont even know what the hell they are saying. the alcohol might lead them to believe in what they are saying at that present moment. so basically its the alcohol doin the talkin not the person.

It completely depends on the person and situation. Some drunk people are totally serious and fairly reasonable about what they say. Others are completely insane and don't even remember what they say. Alcohol affects different people TOTALLY differently.

Sometimes. That is, some people say what they are truly thinking, but others say things they don't mean. Alcohol has some strange effects.

It is very hard to drink and lie at the same time.

People who have been drinking may put a slightly more exaggerated spin on their feelings, such as "I'd spend the rest of my life with you if we could just have relations now." instead of "Nice shoes, wanna hump?" or "I hate you, you're a jerk" instead of "That wasn't very nice."

The feelings are there, and they're a lot stronger than when you're sober.

Yes and no. Alcohol certainly loosens the tongue, but it also causes one not to think straight. So you have to decipher how much of what is said is loose tongue and how much is alcohol induced stupidity.

Short answer is, I wouldn't make any life changing decisions based on what someone said when they were drunk.

sometimes i think they do. i had an ex who alcohol was like truth surem for him and still works that way. he'll spill his guts when he's drunk and i'm the same way. i spill my guts and i'm not afraid to tell people how i feel about them when i've been drinking either.

yes. because they are telling the truth. they are saying what they really feel. they have no conscious blocking these "mean" things. but thats what they most of the times feel inside.

its not a good thing because it doesnt tell you something you need to hear
